Passionate, young abstractionist Camille Ver seeks a certain semblance of order in both her works and life. She frantically tries to make sense of all the complex mix of powerful and varying emotions and moods that she
experiences daily as a painter, art teacher,
entrepreneur and gallery consultant.
Her abstract works are painted on tiled wood, a surface which the artist has developed and transformed into her own unique canvas. On such a medium, she feels in control and at ease with how she wants to go about expressing herself. Peace is found, even bliss at times, in this private space where only she is left to manipulate the play of colors and give them reason, not unlike how some other artists would do with form and figures.
"Instead of models, I use my feelings as subjects. These strong feelings are manifested through the colors which I apply to each painting" says Ver, a product of the University of the
Philippines College of Fine Arts. "Somehow I try to capture the essence of the moment and paint that onto carved wood, which I like to call 'my ground'."
